Waiting until the end of your production cycle to do inspections is a recipe for disaster. By then, it’s too late. You have time and money invested by this point and it’s important to get a return on your investment.
It makes more business sense to build checks in along the way. Better yet, design the process flow so that the product cannot be built improperly or the service can only be delivered when it matches the expectations of the customer.
So the logical goal here is to make every person in your organization responsible for quality when they carry out their activities. Taking pride in our work can lead an organization to meeting goals (and meeting payroll!)
If you’re still relying on final inspections to find errors, think of the waste that this produces. Take a look at ISO 9001:2015, clause 8.5.1 g) – ‘…the implementation of actions to prevent human error…’. This can make a big improvement to your bottom line and help instil even more pride in your employees. Everyone likes to do a great job producing results they can be proud of. Give them a system that helps them do it, and the will amaze you!
